complete dentures

Complete Dentures: Will help instill confidence and provide function while eating, speaking or laughing. We recreate the character of your smile and restore the natural contour of your lips and facial muscles. It takes time to get use to your new dentures and we are here to work with you every step of the way.

partial dentures

Partial Dentures: A removable partial denture is made to replace one or more teeth and is customized to a patient's specific needs. Removable partials restore a person's natural appearance and greatly improve the ability to chew and speak clearly. The benefit of a partial denture may prevent your natural teeth from shifting or drifting into the space left by the loss of a natural tooth. They also help maintain and balance your bite. Partials do not harm your remaining natural teeth. You can have plastic, metal or a flexible partial denture depending on your needs.

Transitional Dentures: Are temporary and are made to replace 1 or more teeth while waiting to have a bridge or implant placed in the near future.

Flipper: A small partial denture normally made to replace 1 or 2 teeth. This type of denture does not usually require clasps.

Immediate Dentures: They are placed right after extractions. The partial or full denture is inserted and the gums heal while you wear your dentures. The only setback for some people is that they don't get to see their teeth until there inserted. However, the benefits of this are being able to have your teeth right away and to go on with your daily routines without interruption. Some people will choose to heal for 2-3 weeks before beginning. This procedure is called "standard dentures” and it's best to get your teeth in sooner rather than later. The longer you wait for healing the harder it is to adapt to your new teeth. If you would prefer to see your teeth and have them tried in before they are completed and you don't mind waiting than standard dentures is the best option for you. Ask us for advice before beginning any treatment. We will help you decide what is best for you.

Relines: Are your dentures feeling loose? Are they falling out when you talk? Are you getting a lot of food trapped? A reline will help make your dentures fit better to your gums. A reline is best to be done regularly depending on how quickly your bone is resorbing and how quickly your gums are shrinking. If you have experienced some weight loss your dentures will feel looser and you will feel gaps between your denture and your gums. We can fill these gaps in and make your dentures fit better to your tissues. Relines can be done while you wait so you don't have to leave the office without your teeth.

Permanent Soft Reline: This is a layer of soft material which acts like a cushion or shock absorber between the hard plastic base of the denture and your gums. A soft liner can be placed when making a new denture or in your existing denture. It provides relief for sore gums or it can give you that extra comfort when chewing.

implant retained dentures

Implant Retained Dentures: Can be placed in partials (no clasps) or full dentures. Implants have been used successfully since 1965. Your implant retained dentures will be almost as solid as natural teeth. They can be placed in the upper or lower jaw. Once implants are placed on the upper ridge the palate of the upper complete denture can be removed to expose your minor taste buds and to feel the food up against the roof of your mouth. Partial denture wearers can also have denture implants. This will eliminate the clasps and the partial will snap over the implants for stability instead. In the future, the implants can be utilized for a full denture if needed. The cost is generally not covered under insurance plans however, this investment in your quality of life is tax deductible and therefore more affordable than it might seem. Denture implants will put an end to adhesive, movement and soreness. Implants will improve your health, smile and give you the confidence and stability you deserve to lead a better lifestyle!

Mouthguards: Are customized to your mouth and are made to fit comfortably over your upper teeth. Mouthguards are a priority when playing sports and protect the teeth, lips, cheeks and tongue.

repairing dentures

Repairs: Denture repairs range from a crack to being broken in half. A tooth or a metal clasp may break off. Most dentures can be repaired and we will let you know if it's worth repairing or replacing. Your dentures should be replaced every 5-7 years because of how much your body changes over the years.

cleaning and polishing

Cleaning and Polishing: Your dentures over time can develop a build-up of calculus and or staining. An excellent cleaner such as "Renew" (which can be bought at our clinic) is a great product and will remove a lot of the staining and calculus. We can also clean your dentures in our lab with a commercial cleaner in a ultrasonic bath. It is important to keep your dentures clean and free from bacteria to maintain a healthy mouth.

Name Placement: The patients name can be placed in there dentures so they are not lost or stolen. If the patient is living in a retirement or nursing home this is when the name placement in their dentures is beneficial.

Natural Teeth Whitening: It's always nice to brighten up your smile whether you have all your teeth or some of your teeth. Your natural teeth can be whitened prior to making a partial denture. A customized tray is made to fit over your natural teeth and the whitening material given is not bought in stores. The strength of the whitening material is stronger and more effective than store bought products.

Check-up Appointment (Recall): A yearly check up with your denturist is the most effective way for you and your dentures to get the care and attention you deserve. Also it allows the denturist the opportunity to assess the oral conditions present and address your needs and expectations. Why is an annual check-up appointment necessary? Over time your mouth goes through considerable changes, tissue shrinkage and loss of underlying bone (resorption) on which your dentures rest upon. Since your dentures do not change, they may no longer fit like they once did. Having an annual oral exam may prevent or help detect the existence of oral cancer or other abnormal conditions. An update of both your medical and dental history is an important step towards quality denture treatment. Warn out dentures can cause an improper fit and an imbalanced bite which can lead to other problems. They can also cause changes in your ability to bite, and cause changes to your speech and appearance. It's important to have your dentures checked for cracks, chips, scratches and worn teeth. Also a cleaning is necessary for any build up of calculus (bacteria) which has accumulated on your dentures over time and is difficult to remove. Renew is an excellent denture cleaner that removes tough build-up and stains. This product is a professional cleanser and cleans better than any store bought cleaning agents.

Fixodent: Is a denture adhesive which seems to be patients' number one choice of adhesives. Fixodent will help hold your dentures in place and is available at our clinic at a lower cost than the stores. Make sure you have your dentures checked if your having to use adhesive daily.  There may be another solution!
